SUNDAY - NOVEMBER 30 - All Invited!

Amity’s Advent Festival, sponsored by our Sunday School children, will be next Sunday, November 30, immediately following the 11:00 a.m. worship service. This is a great event for folks of all ages – you don’t have to be with a child or bring a child to attend!

Children are the heart of the Amity Family and play an important part in each and every worship service.

Our program is growing so much we need more nursery volunteers!
How to help

Sunday School

Sunday School for All Ages is held every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m.  Sunday School for children (age 5 - grade 5) is held in Room 4, led by our Children's Minister following the "Way of the Child" curriculum. Nursery care is provided for ages four and under.

During the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service, the children are invited to continue Sunday School by sitting with their class near the front of the church, assembling on the Chancel steps for a special lesson, then returning to their classroom for more lessons, fellowship, and fun.

From time to time the children will sing for the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Return to top

Children's Time & Children's Church

As the 11:00 a.m. worship service begins, children who attended Sunday School generally sit together on the front row with their teachers and welcome any child in the congregation to join them.  During Children’s Time, all children in the congregation are invited to gather on the Chancel steps for a special lesson. Following Children’s Time, children five and older may attend Children’s Church or remain with their families. Every child is welcome to participate in Sunday School and/or Children’s Time/Church as they feel comfortable. Return to top

Nursery

Our nursery (Room 6) offers loving care for infants through age four on Sunday mornings, 9:30 am - 12:15 pm. Children age five and older are invited to join in Sunday School and Children's Time/Children's Church. Child care is also available as announced during special services and events.  Please ask if you need directions. Return to top

Acolyte Program

Each Sunday, an acolyte helps prepare the Sanctuary for worship by lighting the candles. Following the service, they extinguish the light to signify the going forth into the world.

The Altar Candles don’t just light themselves!  A dedicated cadre of Amity youth light and extinguish the altar candles, thus signaling the beginning and end of worship.

If you would like to be an acolyte, please plan to attend a training session on Sunday, Sept. 27.  ALL current acolytes need to attend one of these sessions. All girls and boys ages 8 to 12 who are at least 48 inches tall are welcome.

For more information, contact Acolyte Director Judi Cialdini-Short at 906-3207 or jcialdinishort@yahoo.com.

"Way of the Child" Curriculum"

Amity is currently using the "Way of the Child" Sunday School curriculum. It places more focus on formation of the child than informing the child. In addition to being Biblically based, it also teaches traditional spiritual disciplines.  The children learn the disciplines of quiet, listening for God's presence, prayer, etc. Time is also set aside for fun and fellowship.
